Sashiko Make n’ Take Workshop with Jan Johnson

February 25, 2023 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 10:00 am on Saturday, repeating until February 25, 2023

Sashiko is a perfect technique for learning to sew by hand.  It’s an ancient Japanese mending technique used to reinforce and mend worn fabric and is currently popular as visible mending for jeans. Techniques like this contribute to sustainable fashion by reclaiming torn, worn clothes.   Sashiko is also highly decorative and suitable for embroidery projects like pillows, framed art, napkins, journal covers and others. The pattern is created by making series of running stitches that can be as simple or as complex as desired, making it a lovely way to learn hand sewing.
