August 16 Fall Vegetable Gardening with Bill Finch. 9:00 A.M.  Press-Register columnist and Conservation Director for The Nature Conservancy,Bill will cover all aspects of vegetable gardening including site and plant selection, and maintenance.  Also included is a demonstration of soil preparation techniques.   This event takes place at Bill's home garden. $15 members, $20 non-members. Paid reservations required.

August 23

NatureBLAST Family Fun Day. 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM.   Nature hikes, scavenger hunts, craft projects, “grocery store” botany, and a special presentation by beekeeper Melissa Bice.  All activities are designed especially to install a love of outdoor adventures and an appreciation of nature.  Grownups without children are welcome! Advance: $10 per family.  At the gate: $15 per family.  Reservations requested.

Sept. 8-10 Weathering Future Storms: Steps to a Storm-Resilient Community Forest.   Sponsored by Auburn University, Alabama Cooperative Ext. System, and U. S. Dept. of Agriculture. Sept. 13     Uncovering Understory Secrets with Rick Webb. 9:00 AM.  Owner of Louisiana Growers in Amite, Louisiana, Rick will focus on plants best suited for shady understory settings including native plants, shrubs and trees.  $20 members, $25 non-members. Paid reservations required.
Sept. 20 Tour of Dodd and Dodd Native Nursery. 9:00 AM - Noon.Guided by owners Tommy and Thayer Dodd, this wholesale nursery primarily grows plants suited for the Gulf Coast, and has been instrumental in introducing these beautiful plants to the region. Water furnished. $10 members, $15 non-members. Paid registrations required.
